Another month down! Another month of books to discuss! Though before this I had been reading about 6 books a month, this month we got to 8. I blame the never ending Minnesota Winter. We got quite a few romantic comedies in there, as a well as probably my second and third favorite books of the year!

Did you read anything good this month? What was your favorite. Leave a comment in the fun new comment box!

Fake Dates and Moon Cakes by Sher Lee

I received this book as an ARC and it is expected to come out in May. I highly recommend this read, it was very adorable and added a lot about Singaporean culture which I found very interesting.

Dylan Tang is looking to enter a Mooncake competition for teen chefs, to fulfill not only a dream between him and his mom to try to get his aunt's restaurant featured on TV. If he can win, the money and promotion will help keep the take-out afloat, and maybe also allow for them to expand. Then enters the wealthy Theo Somers, who become fascinated with Dylan, and what he is trying to do.

This book has its own review on the blog! So please check that out to see a more detailed synopsis of the book! 4/5 stars.

If This Gets Out by Sophie Gonzales and Cale Dietrich

This book follows a boyband called Saturday, as they embark on their world tour. As their life is thrown into the spotlight, two of the band members start to fall for each other.

As the people around them learn about their relationship, it is suggested they keep it secret from their fans, and pretend like nothing is happening when they are on stage.

I enjoyed this book, I'm a sucker for anything that is band related. I like how supportive the friends were when the two members of the band came out. The unsupportive adults were not my favorite at first, but I did like that they had a support group later in the book.

This book was a 3.5/5 stars for me. Cute if its your vibe.

Revelle by Lyssa Mia Smith

This book will be getting its own blog, which is probably out by the time this goes out.

I loved this book. For many reasons, but one being that it is inspired by Moulin Rouge! Which, if you know me, I have been obsessed with. The musical was my 30th birthday present to myself, and it was great, so having this book come out right when I was in the midst of that obsession definitely helped.

This book has magic, love and a great cast of characters that I really enjoyed. Both main characters were really dynamic. I also really loved the magic system and the cost of magic within the world they live it.

5/5 stars for me.

Hello Stranger by Katherine Center

This book will also probably be getting its own blog as well. I read it early as an ARC from NetGalley and I have to say I really enjoyed this read.

I have read one other book by Katherine Center, The Bodyguard, and I have to say I enjoyed this one more.

This book follows Sadie, who is a portrait artist who, after fainting in the street, has to have brain surgery. This surgery leads her to losing her ability to see faces, while she is working on a project for a competition.

There is a dog. There is love. This is antics. 4/5 stars.

Plot Twist by Erin La Rosa

Another book I received as an ARC from NetGalley but at the time of writing this I am unsure if it will get its own blog.

I wanted to like this book. It has an author main character, a former child star love interest and a few antics that finally lead them to being together.

Sophie is struggling to write her 2nd book, with the fear of failure and having no good ideas haunting her. She is encouraged to post TikToks where she meets with her exes to see why she never fell in love.

Though I'm not sure I'm fully ready for TikTok to be a main thing within the books I read, I did enjoy some of the connections with it. Some of the characters were good, but overall was sort of a miss for me. 2.5/5 stars.

Sammy Espinoza's Last Review by Tehlor Kay Mejia

I sent an early copy of this book by Penguin Random House, which honestly was an honor.

Another book that I wanted to enjoy more, but had trouble connecting with the characters at time. Yes, it also features a guitar boy.

Sammy has one more chance to write a music review, without bias or she will be fired. She goes back to her 'hometown' to follow a rumor that a reclusive rock star is there, recording a solo album in his home studio.

We get to learn a lot about Sammy, what family means to her and where she holds her priorities throughout the book. 3/5 stars, will have its own blog too!

Oxford Star by Laura Bradbury

"I'm sensing a theme" You say, probably, after seeing the title of this book. Yes, another band boy book, no I do not have regrets. This is another book I received as an ARC and honestly I enjoyed it.

Lucy decides to go to law school at Oxford, to try to get her degree quickly so she can help out her family. She does not expect to run into an old friend on the plane, have him also be attending Oxford while also being one of the most famous rock stars.

This book had a lot of mental health stuff it handled well, but also had really, really shitty adult characters and I find it hard to believe that there isn't one supportive adult in either of this character's life.

A lot of body image talk as well, especially with Lucy not being the 'ideal' love interest for a rock star. 3.5/5 stars.

Made of Stars by Jenna Voris

Bonnie and Clyde but in space?! Yes please! Made of Stars is a debut novel by Jenna Voris that came out the last week of March. This book is a wild ride with characters who go through a lot of changes throughout the series.

Shane and Ava are trying to protect their families and home planet, but do so by stealing and destroying ships trying to take over.

Cyrus just graduated from training, and things that they are supposed to be the ones who do the right thing, but learns maybe they aren't.

I loved this book, a definite 5/5 stars for me. Plus look at this cover! It's beautiful! This book will be getting its own blog, and is definitely a top 3 of the year.
