Book Review: Entities to Lovers by Mallory Marlowe

Official Synopsis: Paranormal medium Rory Woods spends her days offering psychic readings at Ye Olde Spirit Shop and nights haunting the streets of Boston as a ghost-tour guide. Sure, business could be better, but she’s proud of the shop she runs with her mom.
Enter Ezra Blackwell: adjunct history professor, noted thorn in Rory’s side, and—though she’d only admit it under threat of medieval torture he surely knows too much about—a distractingly handsome, charismatic coworker.
Rory can’t stand Ezra’s know-it-all, show-offy behavior. Ezra loves to tease the gorgeous, brilliant medium at the shop. And when the two are forced to host a tour together? It’s no wonder they end up hexed after disturbing a matchmaking ghost.
Saddled with perpetual bad luck unless they’re physically near each other, Rory and Ezra will try anything, from séances to kissing, to stop the jinx from wreaking havoc on both their lives. But in their quest to appease the spirit, they realize that growing closer might not be the curse they once thought it was.
Rory Woods loves pretending to be an old Boston ghost, giving people tours of the city in old horse drawn carriages and working in her mom's shop. She is proud of the shop, her mom and her own psychic gifts. Rory however is not excited when she and her rival Ezra are double booked for a tour then told to 'just do it together' by her mother. When their tour is almost over, they end up tripping into a seance table in one of their most haunted homes, which definitely has a spirit who spent their time in the mortal realm cursing people. Rory is worried this will be bad for the tours, but things start to turn even worse when she realizes that every time her and Ezra are apart, or fighting, bad things happen.
From waking up late for work, almost spilling coffee on a toddler and overall having just a bad day, Rory is determined to break the curse, but the only way she can do it is with Ezra close by, which she definitely doesn't want...right? Both of them have big opportunities approaching, and being cursed with bad luck is definitely not what they need right now. But as they start to spend more time together, Ezra's real feelings start to show and Rory wonders if what she feels for him is as hateful as she always wanted it to be. As they work to figure out the way to break the curse, which may lead them to having to make a difficult decision they also start to become used to being in each other's presence.
This book felt like a great way to have a spooky story without it being too spooky, especially for those of us who scaredy cats. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Rory and Ezra, their bickering that bordered on flirting and how they both really enjoyed their jobs with the shop for different reasons. Ezra is a major history nerd, while Rory deals more in the paranormal. I think this book moves through the curse and how the characters come together well, and I really enjoyed how much growth the characters had in a short period of the time. The story also had some really fun side/haunted characters that were a great addition. I personally really enjoyed Clementine, the haunted doll that would give each character different gifts and even some helpful ones at times (IYKYK).
If you are looking for a good romance with a bit of spooky season vibes this book is definitely one you should pick up!
I rated it 4 out of 5 stars!
