Official Synopsis: Nothing can rain on Quincy Monroe’s parade. She’s a woman-in-STEM with a PhD in atmospheric sciences, the host of a successful online weather show, and has one million followers on her meteorology Instagram.
Quincy has spent endless hours forging her path in this male-dominated field, becoming one of the best in the industry. And with a new job opportunity, nothing can derail her success. Except for the ill-timed arrival of Sebastian Dunn.
Sebastian is her best friend’s brother, her long-suffering academic and professional rival, and a flashy TV weatherman from New York City that everyone swoons over. Everyone but Quincy.
Over a scorching Florida summer and record-breaking hurricane season, Sebastian and Quincy are forced into close proximity. Setting aside their grudges to chase storms and stay alive is one thing, but can they weather the inevitable collision of their hearts?
Give me more rival meteorologists who are actually in love romances, please. I'm begging.
In Stormy Weather follows rival meteorologists Quincy Monroe and Sebastian Dunn, who have spent more than just their careers fighting for the top spot, in class, in the industry, in each others hearts. When Sebastian comes to to Florida for a work trip, Quincy is hoping she can avoid him at all costs, but instead he seems to show up everywhere she is. Sebastian is supposed to be in New York City, continuing to be one of the top broadcast meteorologists in the country, but instead he's back getting under her skin like always. It definitely doesn't help that Quincy's best friend is his younger sister.
Even with Sebastian crashing her attempts to storm chase, Quincy continues to run her online live streams of severe weather and weather information. She is passionate about sharing weather data and keeping people safe while also sharing her love for Mother Nature. Armed with a PHD and determined to prove that the field is also meant for woman, Quincy applies to the local National Weather Service Office, praying for a job that might help her make an even bigger impact. Now the fans of her long running live stream keep asking for Sebastian to join and their banter is keeping them more than entertained.
As the season becomes more active with hurricanes, Quincy and Sebastian decided to start sharing the live stream and their chasing adventures. Along with some feelings for each other that Quincy might not be ready to accept, with their hopes of it only being one time quickly dashed, the two start spending a lot more time together, and sharing a lot more secrets with each other. Sebastian, who has been pining for Quincy since high school, is hoping this is finally his chance to win her over, even though his time in Florida seems to be quickly coming to an end, and Quincy isn't sure if she's ready that her feels for Sebastian are definitely no longer full of hate.
Now for the good stuff, this book is chalk full of meteorological facts and references and honestly I loved it. I really liked how the facts were added in at the right times and though for someone who works in the field it felt silly, I understand that not everyone just knows things about weather. Plus the fact you had two meteorologists who were passionate about their love for Mother Nature and their desire to help people with their forecasts. I liked the overall vibe of Quincy working to prove herself in a STEM field that is very much full of guys, and showing off how smart she is. I also liked how supportive Sebastian was, even with all their witty banter and comments to each other, if someone crossed a line he was always quick to show them how they were wrong. The book is also really great at describing the weather, even in the parts that were more intense. I am a big fan of 'he falls first and bothers her into loving him' stories so this one definitely hit the spot. I was a fan of the banter right off the bat, and loved watching how the two characters got together but also how they interacted with their friend group. I do hope we get to see more of the group in the future.
Overall I thought all the weather parts were very well researched and written. I liked that Quincy was working towards the goal of always being able to support and help people before and after severe weather. I also liked that even though they do chase tornadoes, this book is definitely heavier on the hurricanes. Quincy and Sebastian definitely spend a lot of time pushing each other to be better throughout the story and I really enjoyed that. The yearning in the book is top tier, the added parts that are comments from the fans are funny and realistic and the overall vibe is great. I am so excited to see other storm chasing novels making it into the world, especially when they do the weather parts so right.
This book is definitely still an adult spicy romance at its core, even with all the science and running into storms, once the characters decide to do their friends with benefits thing....they go for it. Especially since Sebastian has been dreaming about it for much of his adult life. Quincy is definitely a more stubborn about a lot of it at first, but I liked how everything romance wise progressed as well.
If you are looking for a hurricane season themed read with yearning, banter and spicy romance scenes this book is definitely for you. If you are also looking for a book that does have really good science and facts being thrown around during all the other things, this book is also for you. I am still so excited to see more meteorology themed romances enter the world and have some intense moments that have happy ever afters.
I rated this book 5 /5 stars!
